Acidity is a fairly common condition in individuals and is a direct result of unhealthy eating habits. When acid moves from the stomach to the food pipe, it causes acid reflux. Yoga is the best natural cure for both acidity and acid reflux. The only requisite is that it should be done under the guidance of trained yoga professionals.

Causes and symptoms for acidity:

There are a number of causes of acidity. Some of the most common ones are as following:

1. Lying down right after a meal

2. Being over-weight

3. Drinking beverages like tea, coffee, etc.

4. Eating spicy food

5. Smoking

It is usually indicated by a burning sensation in the stomach, coughing , nausea, chest pain and heart burn.

Top Yoga asanas for acidity

The following yoga poses can help get rid of acidity :

1. Kapalbhati pranayama

This is a fairly simple yoga asana that takes stamina to reap the best results. To perform this asana correctly, follow these steps:

a. Sit comfortably with your back straight

b. Take a deep breath

c. While you exhale, squeeze your belly

d. Repeat this 30 times continously. This completes 1 set

e. Do 2 more sets of this asana.

Kapalbhati yoga for acidity

2. Bhastrika pranayama

This is a variation of Kapalbhati and is very recommended for yoga for acidity. Follow the next steps to master this pose.

a. You can either sit on flat ground or on a chair. The only improtant thing is that you back remains straight.

b. Take a deep breath and exhale while constricting your nostrils.

c. Repeat this for 2-5 minutes.

Practising Bhastrika pranayama

3. Ushtrasana

a. Sit on your knees and your back straight, initially.

b. Now, slowly bend backwards and try to touch your heel with your arms.

c. Now stretch your stomach and try to touch the toes.

d. Hold still for the next 5 seconds and breathe normally.

e. Now, come forward slowly and repeat the steps for 2 more times.
