Yoga and Obesity

What is obesity?

To put it in simpler terms, a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than or equal to 25 classifies as being overweight. However, a BMI greater than or equal to 30 falls under the obese category. This occurs due to many reasons, mainly because of excess accumulation of fat due to lack of excercise – In today’s technology dominated world, physical activity has decreased resulting in accumulation of fats.

Obesity and Yoga

Yoga works on all aspects of Obesity or excess weight (physical, emotional and mental). Regular practice of Yoga and controlled lifestyle reduces obesity (weight is reduced). Yoga makes human being agile, efficient and slim.

Weight loss is permanent but one needs to practice few important techniques regularly.Yogasanas or yoga poses like Paschimotannasana, Saral Hasta Bhujangasana, Sarwangasana, Halasana, Dhanurasana, Veerasana, Trikonasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana, Sun salutation are very effective for obesity elimination.

 

A healthy body can be a home to calm and receptive mind. It not only makes you look good but also adds confidence. It also takes you away from health risks so that you can enjoy life more freely.
