Clinical depression often termed as depression, is one of the most common diseases we hear about today. Yes, it is a disease. It’s a mental disorder in which the mood is persistently disturbed and depressed causing loss of interest and activity.  Most people in India don’t realise the sensitivity of the issue and tend to neglect the needs of the patient. According to the World Health Organization, India is one of the most depressed countries in the world.  As worse as it can be, depression has been both an apparent and hidden reason behind deaths.

It is a syndrome which is bound by a lot of cultural stigmas. Even if you want to, the society won’t let you accept that you are dealing with a disease and treatment should be opted for. Acceptance is the step one towards curing depression. Start believing in yourself.  Instead of sulking, try and start working on finding ways out of it.

Yoga and meditation could prove magical in fighting this curse. Depression has to do a lot with psychology and energies; meditation is one way to channelize all the positive energy towards oneself.  Depression tends to render effect on human relationships. One tends to disturb its personal associations with people and world around. Meditation brings the person back to its surroundings and establishes a connection with the world back again.
